Ahhhhhh

I am completely afraid of mice. I know it is silly but for some reason they really scare me. I am one of those ridiculous women that scream and jump up on the nearest chair. I hate the feeling of my heart pounding out of my chest.

One morning Adam came in to tell me we had a visitor and proceeded to show me a little video he had taken out our front window. We have a little field mouse living under our porch. Anika begged him not to show me the video for fear that I would kill it. (Am I that mean?)

After I took Anika to school I was feeling brave so I ventured out onto the front porch to see the holes he dug. Apparently before school Anika snuck out and shoved an entire string cheese down one of the holes. Not only does she not want it killed, I guess she would like it as a pet! I couldn't bring myself to pull the cheese out because the thought of the mouse running out at the same time petrified me. By the time Anika came home from school the mouse had taken the cheese down to its den and it has been living there ever since. I am too scared to hang out on our front porch and the stinking thing keeps digging more holes. I have started filling in the holes with dirt, I am not mean.... really. I don't want it dead, I just would like it to go live somewhere else.

Ultimate Cookie Cereal

Anika and Celtin surprised us one morning and made us breakfast. They poured me a bowl of cookie crisp cereal with milk, but they must like Adam better because he got the ultimate cookie cereal! They took an entire sleeve of Girl Scout Samoas and broke them up into his bowl covered in milk. Doesn't it look yummy. :) Adam ate the entire bowl, even though it was a bit too much sugar first thing in the morning.

Sunday Naps

There is nothing quite like a Sunday nap....at least that is what I hear, I am not much of a napper!

Valentines Fun

Anika and Celtin both had fun Valentines parties at school and Lochlan and I were able to go to both of them. They both ate ice cream sundaes and passed out valentines. This year we made their cards because Celtin really wanted bakugan cards and I couldn't find any. Anika made puppy cards; she picked out the dog pictures and came up with her own sayings for each class member. They were very cute! I took the kids to the store to pick out treats and they decided on peppermint balls (?? I guess they are red and white), so we filled little baggies with a handful. They were quite a hit and the kids had tons of fun handing them out. They received many Valentine surprises in the mail and that made the day so fun for them. Thank you, we love you all so much!

Lake Geneva Ice Festival

In February we went to the ice sculpting festival in Lake Geneva, WI. The sun was out so the snow/ice was melting and some of the sculptures had collapsed by the time we got there. We had a lot of fun anyway and enjoyed walking around the quaint streets. It was still quite chilly with the wind so we only went to a few shops then ate at a little mexican restaurant.

Lochlan is in front of the magician and Anika and Celtin are in front of a dragon fly on a leaf.

Superbowl....

I am not really a huge Superbowl fan but I do enjoy getting together with friends. Our friends invited us over to their magnificent house to watch the game and eat homemade pizza. Yummy! The kids ran around and played while the men and many of the women enjoyed to game. I personally only watched maybe 2 minutes; I couldn't tell you who was playing or who won but I had a great time anyway.

Happy Birthday Monkey!

Lochlan celebrated his birthday last month. He turned 1 on the 1st. At his 12 month appointment he was 20 lbs 12 ounces and 29.5 inches tall. He shared his birthday with the Superbowl this year so we had a little party for him before church. I made him a #1 cake with m&m's (one of his favorite treats). He was not a big fan of the frosting and preferred the m&m's plain.
  • He has picked up several words (some of them are: peek a boo, sissy, Anika, brother, uh oh, Koda, thank you, bye, night night, cheese) He jabbers constantly and throws huge tantrums when things don't go his way.

  • He loves to climb up on anything and everything including out counter height table. (It makes me so nervous because he has fallen a few times but he will not let you help him or hold him steady)

  • He has figured out how to open doors (the downside to door levers instead of knobs)

  • He loves taking showers (stomps and yells to hear his own echo), playing the wii (preferably with the orange remote), chasing his sibling, walking the dog (he tries to whistle and pats his leg for him to come)

He is such a joy to our family. Thanks to Carli, Ryan and Hayden for helping make his day special. Thanks to Grandma for the awesome gifts, he really enjoys them and knew immediately what they were for.
